Online Teacher Certification in Oklahoma

Embarking on a teaching career in Oklahoma has become more accessible with the advent of online teacher certification programs. These programs offer flexible, self-paced pathways for individuals aiming to transition into education without the need for traditional, on-campus coursework.

American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE)

The American Board provides a state-approved, nonprofit online teacher certification program tailored for Oklahoma. This program allows candidates to study at their own pace, utilizing online materials to prepare for two certification exams. Upon passing these exams, individuals can secure a full-time teaching position and apply for a one-year, non-renewable secondary or middle-level teaching license in Oklahoma. During this initial year, participants engage in the American Board’s mentoring program, which includes at least four observations by an approved mentor. Successful completion leads to a five-year renewable standard teaching license.
